About Me

Just a little about me....

I was born and raised a Hoosier as a native of St. Joe, Indiana.  If you know where St. Joe is, you can probably guess that I grew up on a working farm in a pretty rural area.  I currently work for HP Enterprise Services in Information Technology management, and I have been an IT professional for nearly 15 years.  I have a B.A. in Political Science from Drake University and came into the IT world after a stint on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.  I currently live down in sunny Pensacola, Florida.

My ancestors came primarily from Pennsylvania through Ohio and some ended up settling in Indiana.  Among my ancestors, I have Pioneers for both Ohio and Indiana, Civil War Veterans, and a Revolutionary War Veteran.  My genealogical research currently revolves primarily around northeast Indiana (DeKalb and Allen Counties), and north central Ohio (Wyandot, Crawford, Richland, Ashland, and Stark Counties).

Please take a look at the Surnames page on my blog for information on what families I am currently researching.  If we are cousins, or might be cousins, or are just researching in some of the same areas, please don't hesitate to contact me at cwashler at cox dot net. (Yes, I spelled it out just to thwart those pesky spam crawlers that go looking for published email addresses on the web!)

  1. I enjoyed reading your blog, and so many great ideas/tips on where/what to do with my own genealogy research!

  2. John B Nicholls is my 4th Great Grandfather, Have been able to track down his Father/Mother? My grandfather recalls hearing about Hablawetz from his grandfather Wilson Nicholls.

    1. Chad, unfortunately I have not been able to get back past John B Nicholls. The information that I have on him gets me back to his birth in Maryland, but I have not been able to find much between that and his marriage. That is one that is on my to do list when I have time to get back to my genealogy research.
